November 4, 2018 - Theme: Memory
We began exploring our November worship theme of Memory. With Chief Don Stevens, of the Nulhegan band of the Abenaki tribe, we talked about how the Abenaki are the first Vermonters. How they are an important part of the history or Memory of our state, and also that it is really important to remember that they are still alive today, living in our communities as friends and neighbors.
We heard the story of Gluscabi and the Wind Eagle, which reinforces that humans should not meddle too much in the balance of nature. Choice time included an animal tracks matching game, beading and weaving stations, looking at books about traditional and modern Abenaki people.
